Quiti-Kill Biolarvicide

QUITI-KILL BioLarvicide (international brandname MOUSTIcide) is a new, innovative tool for the natural, safe, effective control of the mosquito population.  QUITI-KILL presents a very promising solution to the control of dengue and other mosquito-transmitted diseases.

Larvicides, like QUITI-KILL, kill mosquito larvae instead of adult mosquitoes.  Larvicide treatment of breeding habitats, versus the use of adulticides, is now gaining more popularity as the safest and most cost-effective method to reduce the adult mosquito population. One female larva can give rise to nearly 92 million adult mosquitoes in two months based on the mosquito life cycle.

But unlike other larvicides, QUITI-KILL is mosquito-specific, effective only against all mosquito species including the Dengue-carrying Aedes aegypti. It is non-toxic to other organisms, biodegradable and causes no environment accumulation, therefore, preserving the natural ecosystem.  Moreover, Quiti-Kill use will not result to mosquito resistance development which is what normally happens with chemical-based products.

QUITI-KILL kills mosquito larvae through a combination of two powerful larvicides: TMOF and Bti. The novel TMOF (Trypsin Modulating Oostatic Factor) technology uses the mosquito’s own hormone  to stop protein digestion in the mosquito larvae, causing metabolic starvation and larval death. Bti (Bacillus thuringiensis israeliensis) is a bacteria that punches holes in the stomach of the larva, causing immediate death.

QUITI-KILL BioLarvicide is available in Rice Husk granules and Wettable Powder formulations.  The rice husk granules serve as the carrier and floating device for the active ingredients.  Aside from this functional advantage, the availability in rice husk granules offers economical advantage since rice husk is offered as an inexpensive by-product of local rice mills. Also, rice husks are biodegradable and environment-friendly.
