LABORATORY EVALUATION OF TMOF+Bti ( QUITI-KILL / MOUSTICIDE BIOLARVICIDE ) RICE HUSK GRANULES AGAINST Aedes aegypti LARVAE

In January 2013,  the Medical Entomology Laboratory of the Department of Parasitology, College of Public Health, University of the Philippines,  was again engaged to do a laboratory evaluation of TMOF+Bti (QUITI-KILL / MOUSTICIDE) Rice Husk Formulation.  The larvicide was tested against 3rd-4th instar larvae of Aedes aegypti.

The study concluded that QUITI-KILL BioLarvicde Rice Husk Granules can kill 100% of the test larvae within 24 hours of exposure at recommended dosage.  It also stated that the larvicidal effects last even after 2 weeks.

The table below shows the larval mortality at 24 and 48 hours exposure on Week 0, 1 and 2.

Summary of Test Efficacy of TMOF+Bti Against Aedes aegypti larvae

A second experiment on attractancy of Quiti-Kill BioLarvicide Rice Husk Granules was initiated by the investigators.  The results showed that “Compared to negative control (ovitrap with water), ovitrap with Quiti-Kill is preferred by female adults for oviposition as demonstrated on the increased number of eggs laid on the paddles.”

With proven larvicidal efficacy against Aedes aegypti and attractancy property, QUITI-KILL BioLarvicide Rice Husk granules is a very significant addition to the fight against dengue.
